MN Farmers make Progress in Both Corn and Soybean Harvests Last Week, According to the USDA

Scattered rainfall throughout Minnesota allowed 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending September 26th, according to the USDA.

 

Corn dented reached 97%, four days behind last year, but four days ahead of average.  Corn mature reached 75%, three days behind last year but eight days ahead of average.  Corn harvested for grain reached 10%, five days ahead of last year and 10 days ahead of average.  Corn harvested for silage reached 92%.  Corn condition was rated 38% good to excellent.

 

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 90%, one day ahead of last year and seven days ahead of the average.  Soybeans harvested reached 30%.  Soybean condition was rated 35% good to excellent.

 

Statewide, topsoil moisture supplies were rated 9% very short, 24% short, 65% adequate and 1% surplus.
