Corn and Soybeans in MN Continue to Progress Ahead of Average

According to the USDA’s Weekly Report, scattered rainfall throughout Minnesota allowed 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork last week.

 

Corn dented reached 94%, seven days behind last year, but seven days ahead of average.  Corn mature reached 59%, one day behind last year but eight days ahead of the average.  Corn harvested for grain reached 6%, eight days ahead of last year and 12 days ahead of the average.  Corn harvested for silage reached 85%.  Corn condition rated 38% good to excellent.

 

Soybeans coloring reached 96%, one day ahead of last year and over a week ahead of the 5 year average.  Soybeans dropping leaves reached 74%, two days ahead of last year and seven days ahead of the average.  Soybeans harvested reached 11%.  Soybean condition was rated 35% good to excellent.

 

Statewide, topsoil moisture supplies were rated 11% very short, 24% short, 61% adequate and 4% surplus.
