18 Year Old Blue Earth Man Airlifted to Rochester After His Bicycle Was Hit By a Pickup Truck

A Blue Earth man is hospitalized following a two vehicle accident Tuesday evening in rural Faribault County.

 

At around 9:30pm, Faribault County Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries involving a bicycle on County Road 16, east of Guckeen.

 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, eighteen year old Richard Murphy II, of Blue Earth, was riding a bicycle eastbound on County Road 16, when he was stuck from behind by a pickup truck operated by eighteen year old Tyler Long, of Blue Earth.

 

Murphy was transported to the United Hospital District in Blue Earth by ambulance and later airlifted to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Rochester for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.

 

The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Blue Earth Fire Department, Blue Earth Ambulance, Blue Earth Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
