Fairmont Board Approves MN High School League Membership, Unless the Fee is Too High

The Fairmont School Board on Tuesday considered approving or disapproving the District’s membership in the Minnesota State High School league for the 2021-22 school year.  The Board must approve renewing the membership by September 1st of each year.

A few of the services provided by the MSHSL include scholarships for AAA winners, training for Activities Directors, Administrative Website Assistance, rules for training officials and coaches and student insurance for catastrophic injuries.

Last year’s membership fee was $4,624.

Board Member Mike Edman indicated he was not comfortable approving it without having a cap on the Membership Fee, since it’s still unclear what the fee would be for this school year.

The board made a motion to approve the membership, pending the Membership Fee.
