Faribault County Board Approves Sale of Many Properties in the County

At this week’s meeting, the Faribault County Commissioners authorized the sale of several different properties located in various cities throughout the county, as part of an overall effort to clean up areas of land that are considered “blighted” or not suitable for future use.  According to County Chair John Roper, many of the land parcels have been tax forfeited and are now property of the county.

The City of Elmore is purchasing six properties from the county, Blue Earth is buying four, Winnebago is acquiring two parcels and Delavan and Wells are each purchasing one, as a result of action taken by the County Board.

Judd Schultz, of the Minnesota Valley Action Council, appeared virtually before the Board, seeking Board approval of a resolution authorizing MVAC as the grantee and administrator for family homelessness prevention and assistance program funds in the counties of South Central Minnesota.

Schultz noted MVAC has helped with rent assistance for 263 families in the County and assisted 129 families with rapid rehousing when they became homeless.

After further review, the resolution was passed by the County Board as presented.
