Winnebago Woman Charged With DWI After Running into a Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Car

A Winnebago woman is accused of driving while intoxicated after she recently ran into a Blue Earth County Squad Car, injuring a deputy.

 

Sara Lempkie of Winnebago was charged with gross misdemeanor county DWI and criminal vehicular operation Monday in Blue Earth County District Court.  She was also charged with misdemeanor obstructing the legal process.

 

Lempkie is accused of striking Sheriff’s Deputy Elijah Blakesley on Highway 169, north of Vernon Center, late Friday night.

 

Blakesley was taken to a hospital for further evaluation after the accident.

 

Lempkie was given a breathalyzer test, which allegedly showed she had a alcohol concentration nearly three times the legal limit.

 

Lempkie was taken to a detox facility and was later jailed.
