Forest City Man to Serve a Year in Jail Neglecting A Person At an Area Health Care Facility

A Forest City man has been ordered to serve time in jail for neglecting a resident under his personal care at an area health care facility.

Andres Obando, of Forest City, was sentenced on a charge of “wanton neglect of a health care facility resident,” which is an aggravated misdemeanor.

The charge stems from an investigation conducted by the Forest City Police Department in April 2020.

Obando was ordered to serve 365 days in Winnebago County Jail with all but 10 days of the sentence being suspended.

He was further ordered to pay a $625 fine, along with surcharge and court costs.

Obando was also placed on probation for a period of two years and he was ordered to obtain a mental health evaluation and follow through with any recommended treatment.
