Faribault County Commissioners Approved Agreement for Railroad Crossing Signal Near Frost

The Faribault County Board of Commissioners at their meeting on Tuesday, voted to enter into an agreement with Union Pacific Railroad and the Commissioner of Transportation, for the installation and maintenance of railroad crossing signals west of Frost.

The signals, complete with crossing arms, will be located at the intersection of County Road 4 and 70th Street.

Public Works Director Mark Daly says the total cost of the project will be just under $220,000, with the County’s portion coming in at just under $22,000.  Daly stated he did not know when the project would begin.

Discussion was also held on the approval of a two year contract for Sentenced to Serve services with the State of Minnesota, which calls for a cost increase of 6.6% over the life of the contract.

The Board voted to table any action on the proposed contract until their next meeting and asked for further explanations regarding the increase in costs of the contract.
