City of Blue Earth Lifts Mask Requirements in City Properties and Receives 3 Sisters Project Update

Monday night the Blue Earth City Council voted to follow CDC recommendations and lift mask requirements on all city properties.

The Council also received an update on the Three Sisters Project.  Following a lengthy discussion, that included members of the City’s EDA, the EDA members in attendance voted 4-1 to grant the development group and extension thru September 30th.  The Council followed that vote with an unanimous vote to grant the same extension to the development group.

The development group has hired a construction manager out of Mankato and is hoping to start construction on July 1st.  One of the first phases will be work inside the building on the HVAC and other changes to house a new brewery.  The equipment for the new brewery has been ordered and the owner is working on licensing for the facility through the state of Minnesota.

Council members also set the date for the sale of $6.3 million in general obligation bonds to be sol on June 21st.  The City’s current credit rating is A+ and that rating is expected to remain the same.
