As part of their Council Meeting Monday night, the Blue Earth City Council held a public hearing on the Bartels Drive Reconstruction Project. The project was originally planned as a mill and overlay, but during the televising of the sewer and sanitary sewer lines, it was discovered that the sewer lines needed to be rerouted and gas lines in the area were very old and in need of replacing and relocating.
The cost of a mill and overlay for the street was about $44,000. The new cost for the updated project will total just over $341,000. The council voted to move forward with the project. Bidding for the project will be getting underway in the next few weeks.
Council members also approved the Faribault County Emergency Services Mutual Aid Agreement, renewed the lease agreement for the Golden Spike Speedway at the Fairgrounds, approved a complaint form the city will be using in dealing with reports of animals running at large and directed the City Administrator to bring back to the Council the job description for a part time Community Service – Code Enforcement Officer at their next meeting.
