B.E. Council Approves Appointment of Wendy Cole to EDA Board, Discusses Tennis Court and Street Improvements

Tuesday night, the Blue Earth City Council, on a unanimous vote, approved the appointment of Wendy Cole to the EDA Board.  Cole replaces Councilman John Huisman who submitted his resignation from the EDA Board effective February 12th.

The Council also discussed the future of the tennis courts in the city.  The city and the Blue Earth Area School District are looking at options for improving the courts located within the city limit.  Those options include the possibility of relocating of some of the courts.  No action was taken and the city’s tennis court sub-committee will continue to work with the School District on the parameters of the projects.

Council Members also approved bidding the Bartels Drive Construction Project as a total reconstruction, instead of an overlay project.  Impacted homeowners will be notified of the options available to the City and the date of a public hearing.

The Council also approved a resolution supporting street improvements on 17th and Rice and another resolution supporting street improvements for Giant Drive.
