Wells Fire Department Responds to a Monday Morning House Fire South of Wells

The Wells Fire Department responded to a house fire just after 3am on Monday Morning about a mile and a half south of Wells on Highway 22.

Assistant Fire Chief Bucky Brandenburg said there was heavy smoke in the attic when firefighters arrived and it took them just a short time to extinguish the fire.  The home sustained minor damage.

No injuries were reported in conjunction with the fire and the cause is still under investigation.

Firefighters were at the scene for about 2 hours.  Temperatures at the time of the fire were well below zero and that added to the difficulties firefighters faced at the scene.
