Blue Earth Council Held Their First Meeting of 2021 on Monday Night

Monday night was the first meeting of the year for the Blue Earth City Council.

Mayor Rick Scholtes and Council Members Glenn Gaylord, John Husiman and Dan Warner were sworn in for another 4 year term.  All 4 were elected last November.

The Council also set the committee assignments for the year and approved the Faribault County Register as the City’s official newspaper and First Bank Blue Earth as the City’s official depository.

Police Chief Tom Fletcher presented a report on the sweep his department conducted in the fall of 2020.  Fletcher said that the city sent out 29 ordinance violation letters, the vast majority of the violations were because of junk cars on properties.  The city is planning another sweep in the spring of this year.

Officer Tharen Haugh presented a review of the archery deer hunt in the city last fall.  The city has budgeted for a similar archery hunt in the fall of this year.
