Wells City Council Approves Tax Levy and Street Projects for 2021

The Wells City Council has approved the city’s tax levy for 2021 at an increase of 2.4%.

Administrator CJ Holl said the council and staff worked very hard this year to keep the increase as low as possible.

Council Members also approved moving ahead in 2021, with repairs on North Broadway, a new street, 3rd Ave SW, in the City Center Addition and a street project north of Highway 109 and Broadway.

Holl said the projects will be replacing some of the oldest sewer and water lines in the city.

The city received $168,000 in COVID relief funds this year and they were able to use all of the funds to help the Police Department, Ambulance Service, Fire Department, cover some city expenses and provide $75,000 to local businesses through the EDA.
