Election Day is here with voters in Faribault and Martin Counties deciding several federal, state and local races, along with school and ballot questions.
On the statewide ballot, Minnesotans will vote for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, U.S. Senate, Congressional Seats, State Legislative Offices, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Auditor and Judicial positions. Voters will also decide a proposed Constitutional Amendment involving additional funding for public schools through the state’s Permanent School Fund.
In Faribault County, contested races include County Commissioner District 4 and Sheriff, along with several City Council and School Board contests.
Martin County voters will decide two contested County Commissioner races in Districts 2 and 4. There are also local City Council, Mayoral and School Board contests. Fairmont voters will consider three proposed City Charter Amendments involving the city’s Charter Commission and Utility Commission purchasing authority.
United South Central School District voters will also decide a $22,895,000 building bond referendum. The proposal would fund additional classrooms, improvements to Elementary and Early Childhood learning spaces, Physical Education facilities, technology and other building improvements. Approval would authorize the district to issue bonds and increase property taxes.
Polls across Minnesota will be open until 8pm.
