The Blue Earth City Council approved a resolution Wednesday evening involving approximately $39 million in electric revenue bonds for Blue Earth Light and Water.
The funding will support several major electrical infrastructure improvements, including construction of the West Industrial Substation, upgrades to the Northeast Substation and rebuilding transmission lines.
The projects also include investments in solar energy generation and batter storage.
Under the financing agreement, the bonds will be repaid through electricity utility revenues rather than property taxes.
The council’s action finalizes the bond sale authorization for the improvements, which are designed to strengthen Blue Earth’s electrical system.
