Blue Earth Area School Board member Lindsay Mensing has resigned from her position after accepting a new job as the district’s business manager.
Superintendent Mandy Fletcher says Mensing’s new position creates a conflict, prompting her resignation from the school board and her role as board treasurer.
The board discussed options for filling the vacancy during Monday night’s meeting and decided to seek applications from interested candidates.
Applications are expected to be available later this week through the district’s website and social media, as well as in the district office. The vacancy will also be advertised over the next three weeks.
Applications must be submitted to Fletcher’s office by 3pm Friday, November 13th. The board will then schedule a special meeting to interview applicants and appoint a replacement.
Because more than two years remain in Mensing’s term, the appointed member will serve through the end of 2027. Anyone wishing to serve the final year of the term will need to run in a special election in November 2027.
