Blue Earth Police are warning residents after receiving multiple reports over the weekend of people tampering with vehicles and stealing items from inside.
Similar incidents have also been reported in the Fairmont area and authorities say residents throughout neighboring communities should take precautions.
Police recommend locking vehicles, removing valuables, taking keys and key fobs inside and keeping outdoor areas well lit.
Anyone who sees someone checking vehicle doors or acting suspiciously should contact law enforcement rather than confront the person.
Police also encourage residents to report any vehicle break ins or thefts, even when the items taken have little value, as those reports could help investigators connect multiple incidents.
