Corn development is moving quickly across Minnesota and Iowa, according to the latest USDA crop progress report.
In Minnesota, 98% of the corn crop has reached the dough stage, up from 95% a week earlier, 85% is dented and 24% is mature. Minnesota’s corn is rated 58% good to excellent.
In Iowa, 96% of the corn is in the dough stage, while 79% is dented and 17% is mature. Iowa’s corn is rated 77% good to excellent.
Soybeans are also advancing with 31% of Minnesota’s soybeans dropping leaves, compared with 10% a week earlier. Minnesota’s soybean crop is rated 56% good to excellent.
In Iowa, 6% of soybeans have begun dropping leaves. Iowa’s soybean crop is rated 75% good to excellent.
