Blue Earth Area School District officials are moving quickly on plans for a new elementary school following the passage of the referendum earlier this month.
Superintendent Mandy Fletcher says planning began almost immediately, with meetings, construction updates and design work getting underway.
Last Friday, a group of staff members, parents, community members and school board members toured three newer elementary schools to gather ideas for the Blue Earth Area Project.
Fletcher says one standout feature was at Le Sueur-Henderson, where the school’s design incorporates the communities of Le Sueur and Henderson, including a sensory path designed like the river separating the two cities.
She says the district hopes to bring the same community pride into the new school, incorporating Blue Earth, Frost, Winnebago, Delavan and Elmore.
The group will continue meeting over the next four months as designs and concepts take shape.
