The Blue Earth City Council approved several administrative and community related items during its meeting on Monday.
Council members appointed 16 election judges to staff the August 11th primary and November 3rd general elections. Janet Zabel and Echo Roggenkamp will serve as election coordinators, and the Deputy City Clerk was authorized to appoint additional judges if needed.
The council also updated the city’s bond reimbursement procedures by naming the City Administrator as the official authorized to complete declarations allowing the city to reimburse eligible project costs with future bond proceeds. The change replaces a 2025 policy that designated the Deputy City Clerk and keeps the city in compliance with federal tax regulations.
The council also approved higher rental fees for the Community/Senior Center, increasing the four hour rental from $40 to $60 and the full day rental from $80 to $100. The security deposit also increases from $50 to $75.
City Staff will review rental rates for other city facilities and may recommend a broader fee schedule, including separate resident and non resident rates, at a future meeting.
