A Blue Earth man is facing felony charges after authorities say he stabbed his cousin during a domestic disturbance earlier this month.
Thirty three year old Arturo Martinez Jr. is charged with first degree assault, second degree assault and disorderly conduct following the June 20th incident.
According to the criminal complaint, officers responded to a home where Martinez and 28 year old Roberto Gallegos Jr. had been arguing. Gallegos initially believed he has suffered a ruptured hernia, but paramedics determined he has been stabbed after finding a hole in his shirt matching the wound.
Investigators say a witness later handed officers a bloody knife found near the fight. Gallegos was hospitalized with a deep abdominal stab wound that authorities say created a high probability of death. Martinez told police Gallegos had pushed and choked him before he pushed back. The case remains pending in Faribault County District Court.
