Faribault County FSA Executive Director Nicki Miranowski says a new federal base and yield update process is now underway under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed in 2025.
Miranowski says the update could allow farms to receive additional base acres used for Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage payments, with about 30 million new base acres being allocated nationwide in this first phase. She says landowners are receiving information by email or postcard and no action is required to receive eligible increases.
If no form is filed, an approved additional base acres will be automatically added after an August 31st deadline.
Existing base acres will not change and only those who do not want added acres need to opt out through the Farm Service Agency.
