The Faribault County Board of Commissioners recognized county employee Brandee Douglas during Tuesday’s meeting after she received an Excellence in Performance Award.
The board praised Douglas for her work in GIS mapping and technical service, calling her an important asset to the county, with how she works closely with multiple departments and is known for both her professionalism and technical expertise.
The board also received several updates form Public Works General Foreman Denny Wick regarding ongoing road construction projects across the county. Paving work is underway on County Road 19 near Easton, while resurfacing work near Bricelyn has already moved quickly. County crews are also completing shoulder work ahead of upcoming seal coating projects later this summer.
Officials also discussed a township bridge project after bids to mill and overlay a bridge deck came in significantly higher than expected. Engineers estimated the project at about $253,000, but the lone bid totaled roughly $450,000, leading township officials to reject the proposal.
In other business, commissioners approved the hiring of Scott Berg as a dispatcher-jailer with the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office. The board also approved a 4% lease increase tied to the county’s Human Services agreement with Martin County.
