Farmers will have more time and more money through a federal disaster relief program. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has extended the sign up deadline for the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program, or SDRP, from April 20th to August 12th.
Faribault County FSA Executive Director Nicki Miranowski says an addition payment has been authorized, something that typically doesn’t happen until after enrollment closes.
For most producers who already signed up, there’s nothing more to do. Payments will be processed automatically.
The second round is expected to match the first, about 35%, unless payment limits apply.
Miranowski says they have not received a timeline for when those payments will be issued but expect them soon.
They’re asking producers to be patient as payments are processed and distributed locally.
