A semi rollover north of Delavan led to a highway shutdown and an air ambulance response Thursday.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of 430th Avenue and 235th Street after a called reported a semi had rolled over and was leaking an unknown substance. A hazmat unit from Minnesota Lake was paged to assist at the scene.
Authorities say the driver, a 66 year old man, was able to get out of the vehicle and was speaking with responders. A deputy on scene requested air medical and a helicopter from Mayo Clinic Air Ambulance was dispatched.
The driver was transported by air after initially being unconscious. He later regained consciousness and was alert and oriented, reporting pain in his left arm and upper back.
Officials say the crash happened after the driver lost control on a curve, causing the semi to roll. The roadway was shut down and traffic detoured for a period as crews worked the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
