The Blue Earth Area School Board continued working through long term facilities planning following a work session held last week. Board members reviewed several options for how to move forward using information from a building assessments they’ve been studying since last spring. A summary of that discussion is expected at the board’s regular meeting in February.
In addition to facilities, the board reviewed new data analytics prepared by Teamworks, a consulting firm that works with the district on strategic planning. The reports looks at past, present and future trends, including enrollment, housing and population data. While the district’s overall population is projected to decline by about 3.8% over the next 10 years, the data shows Blue Earth Area Schools have been gaining market share. Enrollment is projected to increase over the next decade, an important factor as the board continues discussions on future facility needs.
