Three people were taken to a hospital following a three vehicle crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of County Road 16 and Country Road 1 in Guckeen.
The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 4:54pm.
According to the preliminary investigation, 87 year old Robert Reinhardt Ficken of Blue Earth stopped at a stop sign in a Ford F-150 pickup before entering the intersection without yielding to a westbound Hyundai Elantra driven by 25 year old Riley Daniel Shumski of Fairmont.
The Hyundai struck the pickup in a T-bone collision, and both vehicles then struck a Peterbilt semi pulling an empty grain trailer. The semi, driven by 76 year old Steven Philip Lawrence of Blue Earth, was stopped at a stop sign and waiting for traffic to clear.
Ficken and his 86 year old passenger, Phyllis Gail Ficken of Blue Earth, along with Shumski, were transported to UHD for treatment of non life threatening injuries.
Lawrence was not injured and declined further medical treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office.
