The City of Fairmont is looking at potential solutions for water quality problems in the Chain of Lakes.
A workshop Thursday brought together state agencies, Minnesota State University, Mankato and private companies to discuss runoff, nitrogen, phosphorus, glyphosate and invasive species such as carp and curly leaf pondweed.
Presenters discussed experimental options, including nutrient treatment products, nano bubble oxygenation and invasive species management.
Fairmont Water Resources Coordinator Hannah Neusch says the city is working with MSU, Mankato on a comprehensive study of the lakes.
She says the city wants to analyze that data before developing a potential lake management plan.
The city hopes to make decisions about the future of lake management by the end of the year.
