The Blue Earth City Council has set its preliminary property tax levy for 2027 at just over $3.25 million, an increase of about $633,000 or roughly 24% from the city’s 2026 levy of about $2.62 million.
The preliminary levy includes $200,000 for general operations and just over $3 million for debt payments.
The levy can still be reduced before it’s finalized but cannot be increased.
Residents will have an opportunity to discuss the levy and the city’s 2027 budget during a public meeting December 7th, at 6pm in the Blue Earth City Council Chambers.
