Faribault County has set its proposed preliminary property tax levy for 2027 at a 14.7% increase.
By law, the county can lower the levy before the final budget is approved, but cannot increase it.
The County Board will now spend the next several months reviewing priorities, needs, spending and what projects may be delayed, with the goal of brining that preliminary increase down.
The county also set its Truth in Taxation meeting for December 15th at 6pm.
The meeting will focus on county spending and the budget, not property value assessments. Questions about assessments are handled through the county’s spring appeals process.
