The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reminding motorists and farmers to safely share the road as harvest season gets underway.
MnDOT says there were 392 crashes involving farm equipment in Minnesota from 2023 through 2025, resulting in 12 deaths and 167 injuries.
Drivers are urged to slow down when approaching farm equipment, especially on two lane rural roads and wait for a safe place before passing. Motorists should also watch for debris on the roadway and keep headlights on.
Farm equipment operators are reminded to use proper lighting and slow moving vehicle emblems and to be aware of equipment height.
MnDOT says patience and caution from both motorists and farm operators can help keep Minnesota roads safe this harvest season.
