Nearly All of MN in Some Form of Drought, While 3/4 of Iowa is Drought Free, According to U.S. Drought Monitor

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows a sharp contrast between Minnesota and Iowa.

In Minnesota, nearly 94% of the state is abnormally dry or in drought, with about 71% now experiencing moderate drought or worse.  Severe drought covers nearly 42%, while extreme drought has expanded to just over 4% of Minnesota.

Conditions are considerably better in Iowa.  About 74% of the state is drought free, while roughly 26% is considered abnormally dry or worse.  Moderate drought covers less than 9%, and there is currently no severe, extreme or exceptional drought reported in Iowa.
