New state data shows Minnesota added more than 44,000 jobs this year, through July, an increase of 1.5%. That compares to a national job growth rate of just 0.2%.
Minnesota’s unemployment however dipped slightly to 4.3% in July, while the national rate fell to 4.1%.
The state did lose about 1,900 jobs from June to July, but DEED Commissioner Matt Varilek says the long term numbers show Minnesota’s economy remains resilient.
Eight of the state’s 11 major industry sectors added jobs over the past year.
Minnesota’s labor force participation rate also remains among the highest in the nation at 66.9%
