Faribault County Commissioners received an update on Tuesday on the proposed Power On Midwest Transmission Line Project.
The proposed 765 kilovolt line would stretch from South Dakota to the Wisconsin border, with current routes crossing Faribault County.
Commissioner Bruce Anderson said county officials recently met with commissioners from Martin and Freeborn counties and an attorney specializing in utility projects to discuss what options local governments have. While counties can provide input and advocate for route changes, Anderson says the final decision rests with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.
Power On Midwest has scheduled public meetings on Thursday, August 8th at the Fox Lake Event Center in Sherburn at 4pm, Tuesday, August 11th at the Golden Bubble in Wells at 4pm, and Wednesday, the 12th at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club in Albert Lea at 10am.
