Construction is picking up on two major infrastructure projects in Blue Earth, with work now underway at both the Riverside Heights development and the Linton Street Reconstruction Project.
City Engineer Ben Rosol told the Blue Earth City Council that crews with Holtmeier Construction continue working at Riverside Heights, focusing on excavation of the stormwater pond, installation of the lift station and sanitary sewer infrastructure.
Rosol said the contractor is also preparing to build a temporary access road for residents before the existing entrance is removed. If construction stays on schedule, the current entrance could be taken out as early as next week, but only after the temporary road is in place to maintain access for residents.
Meanwhile, construction officially began Monday on the Linton Street Reconstruction project. Crews started removing pavement on the south end of town, with the first phase covering Linton Street between 9th and 10th streets and 9th Street between Holland and Nicollet Streets.
Rosol said a directional drilling crew will also install a new 10 inch Water Main along Nicollet Street, from 4th Street to 10th Street. The line will be installed between intersections, with final connections to be completed after pavement is removed during later stages of the project.
