A 44 year old man was seriously injured in an ATV crash Sunday, just northeast of Easton after the throttle reportedly became stuck while he was doing yard work.
Emergency responders were called a residence on 497th Avenue after the rider lost control of the ATV and crashed into a building. Authorities say the man was thrown over the handlebars, suffering a severe laceration to his upper right thigh, a head injury and significant blood loss.
Despite his injuries, the man crawled approximately 500 feet from the crash site back to his house, where he was able to call 911.
Air medical transport was initially requested but later canceled. The man was taken by Minnesota Lake Ambulance to meet a Mayo Ambulance crew before being transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato for further treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
