Minnesota and Iowa corn and soybean crops remain in generally good condition, according to the latest USDA Crop Progress Report.
Corn emergence in Minnesota reached 98% as of June 21st, slightly ahead of last year’s 97% and just behind the five year average of 100%. Corn silking was reported at 1%, matching last year and slightly ahead of the typical pace.
Minnesota’s corn condition was rated at 79% good to excellent, while just 4% fell into the poor or very poor categories.
In Iowa, corn emergence reached 97%, matching last year and slightly below the five year average of 99%. Corn silking was reported at less than 1%, compared with 2% on average.
Iowa’s corn crop was rated 77% good to excellent, while 5% was poor or very poor.
Minnesota soybean emergence reached 95%, ahead of last year’s 91% and near the five year average of 97%. Soybeans blooming was reported at 4%, matching the five year average and unchanged from a year ago.
Soybean condition was rated at 76% good to excellent, while 4% rated poor or very poor.
Iowa soybean emergence reached 93%, slightly below last year’s 95% and the five year average of 96%. Soybeans blooming reached 7%.
Iowa soybean condition was rated 74% good to excellent, while 6% was rated poor or very poor.
