A North Carolina man is facing a dozen felony charges after authorities say he burglarized a rural Blue Earth County home, stole a vehicle and exchanged gunfire with law enforcement during a pursuit near Amboy.
According to court documents, a 44 year old George Marvin Chute of Stedman, North Carolina, allegedly entered a home Monday morning, stole a vehicle and led officers on a chase that reached speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour.
Investigators say Chute became stuck in a field, then got out and fired multiple shots in the direction of officers before he was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
Chute is charged with first degree assault on a peace officers, burglary, theft, illegal firearm possession and fleeing police. He remains in the Blue Earth County Jail, with his next court appearance scheduled for June 18th.
