Minnesota and Iowa residents may be eligible for refunds following a $4.87 million multistate settlement with COVID-19 testing company GS Labs.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced the agreement, which resolves allegations that GS Labs overcharged patients for COVID tests, charged unlawful administrative fees and failed to deliver test results within promised timeframes during the pandemic.
The settlement includes more than $442,000 in restitution for affected Minnesotans and nearly $491,000 for Iowa consumers. Investigators say some patients paid hundreds of dollars for tests and waited longer than the advertised three day turnaround for results.
Under the agreement, more than $3.6 million will be returned to consumers across 18 states. Former GS Labs customers who believe they were affected can check their eligibility and apply for reimbursement through the company’s online claims process at gslabstesting.com.
