Faribault County producers are being urged to complete their crop acreage reporting as the Farm Service Agency enters its busiest filing period.
Faribault County FSA Executive Director Nicki Miranowski says about 20% of acreage reports are already completed and farmers are encouraged to file as soon as planting is finished. While there is no direct payment tied to acreage reporting, Miranowski stresses it is required to maintain eligibility for a range of federal farm programs.
Producers must report what was planted, planting dates and crop share information. The deadline is July 15th, but officials are encouraging early filing ahead of expected workload increases later this summer.
Farmers are also reminded to complete reporting with both the FSA office and their crop insurance provider, with the FSA summary report needed first before contacting insurance agents.
