Minnesota Farmers continued to make strong planting progress during the past week, according to the latest USDA Crop Progress report released Monday.
Corn planting in Minnesota reached 68% complete as of Sunday, ahead of the five year average of 55%. Corn emergence was reported at 10%, slightly below the average pace of 12%. Soybean planting advanced to 51% complete, well ahead of the five year average of 33%, while soybean emergence reached 5%, slightly ahead of the average of 4%.
In Iowa, corn planting reached 72% complete, unchanged from the same time last year and ahead of the five year average of 63%. Corn emergence in the state reached 19%, matching the average pace. Soybean planting climbed to 60% complete, ahead of the 5 year average of 48%, while soybean emergence reached 7%.
