Charges have been filed against the man accused in the shooting of a Mankato man on Sunday.
Forty four year old Joseph Bulfer, of Fairmont, is charged with one count of 2nd degree murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of assault and three counts of burglary.
Court documents say Bulfer broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend, 37 year old Rosalyn Rode on Sunday and shot her boyfriend, 52 year old Joshua Robert Downey, multiple times.
According to court documents, Bulfer then attacked Rode, hitting her with a rifle and forcing her into a bathtub, blaming her for the attack.
In an interview with Police, Rode told investigators she had broken up with Bulfer in December 2025 after dating him for some time and that he could “not handle” her dating Downey.
Court records show Rode suffered from numerous contusions to her head and body, a laceration to her head, collapsed lung and several broken ribs.
Bail was set at $5 million with conditions. The next court date is set for May 7th.
