The Faribault County Board of Commissioners approved a new department head hire, a business license and discussed updates within the County Recorder’s office at its meeting on Tuesday.
Commissioners approved the hiring of Mike McCoy as Central Services HR Director following a recruitment process that drew 12 applicants. Five candidates were interviewed before McCoy was selected, with the hire contingent on a background check.
The board also approved a precious metals license for Winnebago Coins, LLC, a business expected to open in May in Winnebago.
An update from Midwest IT highlighted ongoing technology services provided to the county, including cybersecurity protections and system monitoring.
In the Recorder’s Office, officials are encouraging residents to sign up for a new property alert system that notifies users when documents are recorded under their name. The office is also continuing a digitization project to convert records into electronic format.
