The Blue Earth Area School Board has approved a resolution to place two bond referendum questions on the August 11th Primary Ballot, marking the next step in a months long discussion about district facilities.
The proposal follows extensive review of a comprehensive facilities assessment and community outreach across the district. Questions one would fund construction of a new preschool through sixth grade building, upgrades at the high school and demolition of the current K-7 facility, at a cost of $63.31 million. Question two, totaling $10.3 million, would cover high school HVAC improvements and a multi-purpose activity space, but is contingent on the first question passing.
Combined, the proposals would total about $73.6 million, an increase from a similar measure considered in November 2024, largely due to inflation.
District officials say community education efforts are ongoing, including a public meeting and facility tours scheduled for May 28th in Pemberton Auditorium.
