A popular resource focused on reducing food insecurity in local communities has closed.
In a message shared with supporters, the organization said it had spent the past several months “realigning the work, structure and focus” of Ruby’s Pantry to keep its mission at the center of its efforts and better align community needs with its operations.
“As a result, we have decided to end the operations of Ruby’s Pantry effective immediately,” the message said.
The organization acknowledged the closure would be difficult news for supporters and said the decision was not made lightly.
Ruby’s Pantry also reflected on its more than 20 years of service, call it “an incredible journey” that began with a vision to help others through a single blessing box.
The message thanked volunteers, supporters and community members for their contributions and dedication over the years.
Ruby’s Pantry operated sites in Albert Lea, East Chain and Redwood Falls.
