The United South Central School District is expanding its effort to gather community input as it considers a potential facilities project that could go before voters as early as next November.
Superintendent Taylor Topinka says the district has already held a series of community meetings that have drawn strong attendance, with some events bringing in hundreds of residents. However, he says district leaders know there are still many voices that have not yet been heard.
To reach a broader portion of the community, the district will be sending out a mailer and survey all residents in early April. Topinka says the survey is designed to gather feedback on whether the community believes there is a need for a facilities project, and if so, what size and scope of project residents would support.
The feedback will help guide the school board as it considers next steps, noting that any potential project would represent a significant investment for the district and its taxpayers.
Residents will have the option to complete the survey either by mail or online. Each survey will include a unique code to ensure responses can only be submitted once.
District leaders are hopeful the survey will provide meaningful input to help shape a plan that best fits the needs of both the school district and the community.
