The Blue Earth Area School Board recently held a lengthy discussion on addressing facility needs at the district’s Pre-K through 7 building and the high school at their meeting last week.
Representatives from Kraus Anderson and Baird were on hand to answer questions about potential solutions, including whether to renovate the existing buildings or construct a new facility.
Board members also debated the possible length of a bond to fund such projects, considering both 20 and 25 year options. While no election has been called, the board approved submitting a detailed report to the Minnesota Department of Education.
The report will outline the proposed projects, including the 25 year bond plan, and seek guidance from the commissioner.
Superintendent Mandy Fletcher says the report will be submitted within the next 10 days and updates will be shared once the department responds. This step is seen as a key part of moving forward with long term improvements to the district’s facilities.
