Darling Ingredients is modifying operations at its facility in Blue Earth in an effort to “better serve customers and improve overall efficiency,” according to a company statement.
As part of the transition, certain activities currently performed at the Blue Earth Plant are being relocated to a nearby site. The company said it does not anticipate any impact to customers during the change.
The facility currently employs 38 people. Following the operational shift, 22 employees will remain at the Blue Earth location. Positions for the remaining 16 employees are being eliminated.
Company Officials said efforts are underway to identify other possible opportunities within Darling Ingredients for affected employees, where possible.
Darling Ingredients operates facilities across the United States and Internationally, providing sustainable rendering and recycling solutions for the food, feed and fuel industries.
No timeline was provided for when the transition would be completed.
