The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced the enrollment periods for the Conservation Reserve Program, or CRP, for 2026.
The Farm Service Agency is accepting offers for Continuous CRP now through March 20th, with General CRP enrollment running from March 9th through April 17th. Dates for Grassland CRP will be announced later.
CRP provides financial and technical assistance to producers and landowners who place marginal or unproductive cropland into 10 to 15 year conservation contracts. In return for annual rental payments and cost share support, participants establish long term vegetative cover to improve water quality, reduce soil erosion and enhance wildlife habitat.
USDA officials say enrollment is expected to be competitive, with about 1.9 million acres available nationwide under the program’s 27 million acre cap.
More information is available through local FSA county officies.
